Bilgin Çelikel

Bilgin Çelikel has started his photography life with which he owned an old Canon T1 at year 1996. He photographed his friends and environment by this half broken and half steady camera even most of the poses had burnt. Çelikel explored the photography as an explanandum and started to read more books about this subject and he tried to enhance his techniques with the photography workshops. At 1998 he renovated his camera and started to take photos more correct and more willingness. He made his first photo shoot with interviews at Duzce ‘gypsy’ suburban districts where his university resided at.
Çelikel’s photography and private life has changed after the situation at 17tf of August 1999 in Duzce where he was caught by the earthquake. Luckily , even he had a close brush with dead he viewed all the things with 3-5 roll of film what is left from . He sent the photos to Dogan News Agency unfortunately they told that the photos did not hallmark as a news just so called “artistic” but even so they charged him as a DHA Duzce reporter.
While at his photography reporter duty, he made some works at Duzce Governorship Press Office. He had some works as photo shoots and interviews in Duzce about the advertising of the city which had received a city confirmation after the earthquake in 12th of November 1999. Those works had been published by the Governor of Duzce. He also lived in tent houses for a while and photographed , interviewed all the boredoms that encountered. 1st Anniversary of earthquake his photos had brought into an album by the Governor of Duzce and hold a personal exhibition.
In 2001 Çelikel left from his duty at DHA and returned back to Istanbul and continue to work at Kadikoy Municipality Youth Center as a photograph instructor. Some of the Çelikel’s photos works had published in the photograph magazine called “Genis Aci”. In that year Çelikel had being accepted to the IFSAK and Istanbul Photograph Foundation .
At year 2002 he resided at Ukraine and made some studio works with various kinds of photography artists together. In those years he mostly made fashion, advertising and still life photo shoots . Because of he couldn’t get used to work in a closed studio stage and fiction photography he nipped studio projects in the bud.
At year 2007, he was granted to be a membership of Ukraine Photography Foundation. He joined to an exhibition at same year with a joint work and interviews about the mine workers at East Ukraine.
After year 2009, in order of; he worked in Belarus and Russia. Çelikel , still resides in Turkey and continues to work on free photography works at Europe and Middle East.
